J.M.R. Electric Ltd. completed the full Mechanical and Electrical scope for the new Waterloo Paramedic Headquarters, a two-storey administration wing connected to a one-storey vehicle storage garage. The 84,000 square foot facility provides space for offices, training, and locker areas for up to 159 paramedics, management, and administrative staff. Training areas include a classroom and simulation lab with an adjacent control room. The vehicle garage features a wash system, active bay, and indoor storage for up to 22 ambulances and additional support vehicles.
The mechanical systems include in-floor heating throughout, a dedicated outdoor air unit, variable air volume boxes, active chilled beams, and building conditioning served by natural gas boilers and air-cooled chillers. A rainwater collection system captures roof runoff into underground holding tanks, providing non-potable water for toilets, irrigation, and the vehicle wash system.
The electrical systems include power distribution, emergency generator and backup power, lighting, voice and data systems, and rough-ins for various building systems. A roof-mounted photovoltaic array connects to the building’s electrical distribution, supporting the Region’s commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.
