J.M.R. Electric Ltd. served as the General and Electrical Contractor for the generator and switchgear replacement project at the Lambton Area Water Supply System (LAWSS) Water Treatment Plant. The project involved the removal of existing power generation and distribution equipment and the installation of upgraded systems to enhance reliability and performance.
Scope of work included the removal of four 1 MW generators, associated neutral grounding resistors, and existing synchronizing and 5kV switchgear. JMR installed three new 1.5 MW generators, Selective Catalytic Reducers (SCRs), new synchronizing and 5kV switchgear, and associated grounding resistors.
Work also included distribution modifications, installation of new feeders, control wiring, and cable tray systems, wiring for the fuel system and SCR equipment, and the installation of a new 600-120/208V dry-type transformer and panelboard.
This project demonstrates JMR’s capability to execute complex electrical infrastructure upgrades within an active water treatment facility while maintaining system integrity and minimizing operational disruption.
