J.M.R. Electric Ltd. performed the full Electrical and Mechanical scope for the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) redevelopment project in Chalk River, Ontario. The project involved the design and construction of three new facilities — an office building, a support and maintenance facility, and a gatehouse/logistics building — all intended to modernize and expand CNL’s operational capacity.
Delivered under an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) model in partnership with Chandos Construction and Sullivan, this project prioritized collaboration, efficiency, and early contractor involvement to drive value and reduce risk across all phases of design and construction. Working closely with the general contractors, consultants, and CNL stakeholders, JMR contributed technical expertise, cost-effective solutions, and proactive planning within a highly regulated nuclear environment.
JMR’s scope included complete electrical systems installation, encompassing power distribution, lighting, life safety systems, communication systems, and backup power infrastructure. On the mechanical side, JMR delivered HVAC, plumbing, and specialized equipment connections to support the laboratory’s operational and safety requirements. All systems were integrated with CNL’s existing campus infrastructure, ensuring reliability, maintainability, and long-term efficiency.
Through precise coordination, rigorous quality control, and strict adherence to nuclear industry standards, J.M.R. Electric Ltd. successfully supported the client’s goal of creating safe, modern, and energy-efficient facilities that will serve ongoing nuclear research and operations for decades to come.
