ErinOak Kids

Three new children’s treatment centres delivering specialized therapy spaces supported by efficient mechanical and electrical systems designed for safety, comfort, and LEED-focused performance.

Project Description

The ErinOak Kids Centre for Treatment and Development project involved the design and construction of three new state-of-the-art children’s treatment facilities located in Brampton, Oakville, and Mississauga, Ontario. These purpose-built healthcare spaces were developed to consolidate and expand ErinOak’s services for children and youth with physical, developmental, and communication disabilities.

As the Mechanical and Electrical contractor on all three sites, J.M.R. Electric Ltd. played a key role in delivering high-performance building systems that provide safety, comfort, and efficiency for staff, patients, and families. Each facility was designed to foster a welcoming and therapeutic environment, incorporating bright, open spaces and energy-efficient infrastructure throughout.

Project Highlights:

  • Combined total of over 270,000 sq. ft. across three sites, each tailored to support pediatric treatment, therapy, and rehabilitation programs.
  • Includes clinical areas, therapy rooms, hydrotherapy pools, multi-sensory spaces, and family resource centers.
  • Designed to meet LEED® Silver certification standards, prioritizing sustainability and energy efficiency.
  • Built under Infrastructure Ontario’s Alternative Financing and Procurement (AFP) model to ensure high-quality delivery and long-term operational performance.

Through collaboration with the project partners, J.M.R. Electric Ltd. helped deliver three advanced healthcare facilities that empower ErinOak Kids to continue providing life-changing care and support to children and families across the region.

Electrical Scope

  • Full installation of lighting, power distribution, and emergency backup systems across all sites.
  • Integration of building automation, life-safety, nurse call, and communication systems.
  • Implementation of energy-efficient lighting controls and renewable-ready infrastructure.

Mechanical Scope

  • Complete installation of HVAC, plumbing, and medical gas systems to support specialized pediatric therapy environments.
  • Integration of pool mechanical systems and humidity control for hydrotherapy facilities.
  • Energy-efficient system design to support LEED certification and maintain optimal indoor air quality.
