Stittsville Extendicare

A 156,000 sq. ft. long-term care home powered by advanced HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety systems ensuring comfort, reliability, and efficient operation.

Project Description

The Extendicare Stittsville Long Term Care Facility project involved the new construction of a 156,000 sq. ft., four-storey building with a penthouse and basement, designed to provide modern, high-quality care for seniors. The facility includes 256 resident bedrooms, dining and activity areas, and dedicated spaces for support services, therapy, and staff.

J.M.R. Electric Ltd. (JMR) successfully completed both the mechanical and electrical scopes of work, ensuring the delivery of reliable, energy-efficient, and code-compliant building systems throughout the facility.

Electrical Scope

  • Full installation of power distribution, lighting, life-safety, and communication systems.
  • Integration of nurse call, fire alarm, and security systems to meet long-term care standards.
  • Energy-efficient lighting and control systems designed to enhance resident comfort and reduce energy consumption.

Mechanical Scope

  • Supply and installation of 8 Heat Recovery Units (HRUs), 8 Rooftop Units (RTUs), and 1 Makeup Air Unit (MAU) with complete duct systems and air terminal units.
  • Installation of Natural Gas, Hot Water Heating, HVAC, and Domestic Plumbing Systems serving resident suites, dining areas, and serveries.
  • Complete boiler system installation serving hydronic unit heaters.
  • Installation of above- and below-ground drainage systems (sanitary and storm) to support full building operation.
