Canada Summer Games Building

A multi-venue athletic complex featuring ice pads, gyms, tracks, and outdoor sport facilities powered by advanced electrical systems for high-performance community and competition use.

Project Description

J.M.R. Electric Ltd. served as the Electrical Contractor for the Canada Summer Games Park, a legacy project located at Brock University in Niagara, developed for the 2022 Canada Summer Games. The facility includes the Walker Sports and Abilities Centre, featuring two ice pads, a para sport gymnasium with four courts, a health and wellbeing centre, and a 200m indoor track.

The project also encompasses extensive outdoor sports facilities, including six beach volleyball courts, a cycling centre, an outdoor storage area, and a full track-and-field facility with a 400m track and dedicated areas for all jumping and throwing disciplines. Additional program elements include the Centre for Health and Wellbeing with a large fitness room and multi-purpose studios, as well as training facilities for the Canadian Sport Institute of Ontario with strength and conditioning areas, sports medicine labs, and administrative support spaces. The Brock Centre for Sport Capacity provides multi-purpose halls, administrative offices, and open office spaces for various sports associations.

JMR’s scope included the complete electrical systems, encompassing power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, and building controls, designed to support a multi-functional, high-performance athletic and community facility. This project demonstrates JMR’s expertise in delivering complex electrical infrastructure for large-scale recreational and institutional projects with legacy impact.
